My Thoughts

I am a big Jamie Jo Wright fan and so I was thrilled to discover she wrote another book! While this story is a pretty quick read, Wright did an excellent job of capturing my attention and creating a believable plot with character growth!! Amazing! I love the outdoors so I really enjoyed the setting and sleuthing with Aaliyah and Wade as they looked into murders from years past. There is an adoption story line that really tugged at my heart and is so well written. Things from our past can pop up when we least expect it and it can take a bit to feel steady again. But God. Amazing. There is a sweet romance but it certainly didn't overtake the book and just added some sweetness for two lonely people. Overall, I really enjoyed this suspense read and it had me on the edge of my seat many times.

Four Stars.

The Curse of Misty Wayfair Review

About the Book

Left at an orphanage as a child, Thea Reed vowed to find her mother someday. Now grown, her search takes her to Pleasant Valley, Wisconsin, in 1908. When clues lead her to a mental asylum, Thea uses her experience as a post-mortem photographer to gain access and assist groundskeeper Simeon Coyle in photographing the patients and uncovering the secrets within. However, she never expected her personal quest would reawaken the legend of Misty Wayfair, a murdered woman who allegedly haunts the area and whose appearance portends death.

A century later, Heidi Lane receives a troubling letter from her mother--who is battling dementia--compelling her to travel to Pleasant Valley for answers to her own questions of identity. When she catches sight of a ghostly woman who haunts the asylum ruins in the woods, the long-standing story of Misty Wayfair returns--and with it, Heidi's fear for her own life.

As two women across time seek answers about their identities and heritage, can they overcome the threat of the mysterious curse that has them inextricably intertwined? (Goodreads)

My Thoughts

Jaime has such a unique way of writing suspense. I have read her previous two books but this one was a tad different. I think the creepiness was stronger in this book but also perhaps a deeper storyline. I loved all of the characters and both storylines. Dual timelines are my favorite and they read together nicely. I loved how Jaime created characters that are out of the ordinary because real people are all different. I love how she makes the reader see beyond the appearance of a person or personality traits. She gives you a deeper look into who they actually are as a person on the inside. God made people unique and this book really brings it home in reminding us that.
I highly recommend reading this in the daylight or when you are not alone. : )

Five stars!
