My Thoughts

I really enjoy books by this author and this one is no exception. She writes with such authenticity and deals with some hard topics. This story isn't necessarily easy to read due to the entire plot point. Lizzy is accused of murder and her brother is sent away to protect him from an abusive father. While not terribly graphic, the author doesn't shy away from tough scenes. So it is difficult read at times but weaved in is a lot of growth and grace. There are some twists and turns that I didn't love and some of the secondary characters act a bit harsh from what I would prefer toward Lizzy but overall I enjoyed this Appalachian novel!

Four Stars.
