MY WRITING DESK

I have a wonderful home office with a large screen iMac and the perfect place to keep important papers and reminders right in front of me for easy access. There is also a bed for my dog, Boo, because no office is complete without a bed to welcome the dog. Right?
I also do a lot of writing while seated in a big easy chair in the living room. It all depends upon my mood and how many reference books I might need at the time.
My office usually looks neat when I begin a book. By the time I’m writing the end, the room has become a disaster—stacks of papers demanding my attention and a layer of dust are the most obvious issues.

My office also serves as my art studio (where I do decorative planning and Bible art journaling), so every inch that isn’t taken up by writing related items is filled with art related ones—paints, washi tape, stickers, pens galore, etc.
An early riser naturally, I consider sleeping in to be anything after 6 AM. On a normal writing day, I try to get in half an hour on the treadmill first thing in the morning (and often return to it for ten minutes segments a couple other times during the day). Then I sit at my desk or in my easy chair to do my Bible study. And finally I begin writing.
I can usually create new words for about four hours or so a day. The rest of the work day is filled with editing, revising, research, and correspondence with publisher, agent, readers, and other writers. I have an active online presence which needs attention daily, as well.

I am also a late-in-life part time college student, taking my classes online, so at least a couple of days a week, you’ll find me doing assignments and taking quizzes. For some reason, I rarely use my office for that. The kitchen table seems to suit me better. Probably because it is a large table and I can really spread out.
I feel very blessed to be able to work at home. I had a full time job when I wrote my first book. In fact, I wrote nine novels over the course of nine years while still working full time. The month my ninth book released, I quit my job in order to write full time. Seventy books and almost 28 years later, I’m still at it. As I said, I am blessed.

 My Thoughts


Robin Lee Hatcher is always an enjoyable author to read. This story is set in Idaho and has some great characters. I liked the equine therapy aspect of this story as it is something that I have always found interesting. The characters are both a bit broken and also have some past baggage. I thought this part was fairly well written and it was fun to see how everything was going to end. There were a few times throughout the story when I thought it was a bit slow. Many things were predictable and I had a hard time being completely engaged in the story line.  There were some great moments it just was a bit slower. Fans of Hatcher will enjoy!

My Thoughts

This book started off a bit different than I was expecting. The first few chapters were a little slow but as the story moved on I really enjoyed it. There is a dual timeline that I loved, especially the past vs present. Both stories have great meaning but the one set in the 1930s had more to it in my opinion. Hatcher is good at taking difficult things and making them into a story. Since this is the start of a new series I am curious to see where she takes the next book. I enjoyed this book and would give it four stars.

 My Thoughts

As per all of Hatcher's novels, this story has a wonderful setting. I really enjoyed going back to Thunder Creek and meeting new characters. I LOVED the secondary characters possibly more than the main ones, but overall this is a sweet story. I wouldn't call this book totally unique with its story line, at times it got a tad slow for me. I felt like it was similar to other books by Hatcher so I can't say this one is my all time favorite. That being said, Thunder Creek is a place I want to visit.  Fans of Robin and contemporary romance will enjoy.

 My Thoughts

I think that Robin Lee Hatcher is a talented author and this story had some great characters. Hatcher has way of writing about life through her characters in a way that adds a lot of depth. Real life issues and all in a wonderful setting! Some of romance in this particular book just didn't seem to click for me. I felt at times that it seemed rushed/shoved upon the reader and wasn't quite as natural as I would have liked. It made some of the parts of this story a bit predictable and slower for me to read. Otherwise I enjoyed this book and the overall story line. 

Four stars.

My Thoughts

 Robin Lee Hatcher is one of my favorite authors for contemporary fiction. She has such a way with words and characters you can't help but fall in love with the story. This book takes you back to Kings Meadow, which is a place I wish I could visit! Penny's brother has just passed away, a tragedy she can't understand or want to forgive. Trevor doesn't know why he is in Kings Meadow but feels like it is where he needs to be. Despite Penny's reluctance to have anything to do with him, the story takes you into their daily lives and we find out more to the story. 

Excellent writing and I love the setting. It's a fairly short and simple story but captivated my attention. 

Highly recommend.

My Review

I have really loved the first two books in this series and so looked forward to reading this one. I'll be honest, I was disappointed. I still love Robin's writing but this book didn't seem to have as much depth as her other books. The setting of course is King's Meadow which I love, the characters were okay and the romance was pretty cheesy in my opinion. Everything goes just like you think it will and there really aren't any surprises. 

If you are looking for a light romance you will enjoy this book. 

I still love Robin Lee Hatcher and look forward to read more from her!

 My Review

I really enjoyed the King's Meadow setting in Robin's book A Promise Kept. Love Without End takes us back to this wonderful little community and into the lives of Kimberly and Chet. Both single parents to teenagers they are both getting through life unsure of what the future may bring. Kimberly is used to the city and is afraid of horses yet her daughter can't seem to be around them enough. Chet offers to help Tara learn more about horses and Kimberly ends up being around them and a cowboy she wants nothing to do with. 

This story is predictable but I really liked reading it because it's a real story. Their families aren't perfect and at the end not all is solved. There is a side story about Anna who returns to the ranch and the readers get a glimpse into her past. I like the flashbacks, similar to those in Hatchers' previous books.  

This is a nice easy read, don't expect a ton of romance just a realistic portrayal of life written beautifully.

I really enjoyed, highly recommend for a contemporary fiction!

My Review

In Spitfire Sweetheart by Mary Connealy I liked the male character more so than Maizy. The story was cute and rather humorous. The only thing I didn't like is the beginning of the book when the two meet unexpectedly. There is a grizzly bear involved and I found that to be rather silly for the location but it did add humor.

In Love Letter to the Editor by Robin Lee Hatcher I loved it all! The storyline, the setting ( I love reading about newspapers and working on one) and the characters. There was a bit of mystery within the two main characters and a bit of humor. It was well written and out of all the stories this one was my favorite.

“Saving Grace” by Margaret Brownley reminded me a lot of a Dr. Quinn episode of trying to figure out who is guilty. The mystery continues but I wasn't really on the edge of my seat. I felt like I had read this before but it was an alright story.

“A Cowboy for Katie” by Debra Clopton was a really cute story about a strong woman who needs some help. I liked how it was written and the characters were fun to read. While this story is not new I thought the author brought her own uniqueness to characters.

This set of books is really one of the best I've read.
 If you like this type of book Four Weddings and a Kiss is a must read.

 My Review

I really enjoy Robin's writing because her stories have meaning and more depth than others. This book, while I enjoyed the idea, the characters I didn't like as much. The thought of a woman running off with a bounty hunter in search of a man is funny as well as obviously difficult at the time. Hatcher does a good job at portraying the difficulties of riding for weeks on a horse in every kind of weather. I thought there were too many story lines going on throughout the book. One story would get started and I would be getting into the little plot line and then all of the sudden it would be over and on to the next. Because of this the entire story seemed really rushed and the ending not as strong. That being said, this book is humorous with a dash of romance on the side. If you enjoy Hatcher's previous books you will enjoy this one as well.

My Review

What a wonderful book! I think this is Hatcher's best that I have read. I enjoyed Emma's story (flashback) more so than Allison's (present day). But both stories were interwoven in a great way that made the entire book enjoyable. Part of the reason I think this is so great is because Hatcher has put a part of her past experience with divorce into this story that makes it more real. This is not all happily ever after, while the ending surprised me I think it's neat how it all came together. I have read other reviews and many people don't see this as being realistic but it obviously is because it happened to Robin! I kept thinking about my parents divorce as it was a lot different than what was told in this book but I still enjoyed the story. I love the setting, the history, the story line, and every other detail. I highly recommend!

Betrayal Book Review

Betrayal by Robin Lee Hatcher is a historical western novel set in a ranch in Wyoming. Julia Grace has had a rough past with memories that seem to creep into her mind every day. Being a widow with a ranch and cattle to take care of hasn't been easy for her over the winter and the cattle will need to be moved.

Hugh Brennan happens along Sage-hen ranch in need of rest and time for his horse to heal. Hugh offers to help around the ranch in exchange for food and a place to sleep at night. Julia takes him up on the offer and they end up driving the cattle after a few mishaps. That isn't where the story ends as someone is trying to take Julia's ranch, no matter what the cost.

This novel is actually the second in a series the first called Belonging which is about Hugh's sister. I hadn't read Belonging and Betrayal can be read as it's own novel. Hatcher also has a new book to the series planned called Beloved which follows the life of Hugh's other sister.

I liked how the viewpoint in the story started with Hugh and his strong faith in the Lord. This isn't my favorite book written by Robin Lee Hatcher but it is still a sweet story.
