My Review

I have read all of the books in this series but they can be read separately. I really enjoyed the characters in this book more so than the other books. I felt like I understood them better and as a reader was able to get more into the story line. Caitlin is quite the gal and I loved the parts of her being a governess. This helps the reader see this time period through different eyes. There is romance but it's war time, so it makes things difficult.

Full of historical details, history lovers will enjoy!

Five stars for the historical aspect.

My Review


 What a fun book! Sandra Bricker is such a creative fun writer and all of her books have been a surprise. I have not read the first book in this series but they are each set about a different fairy tale so they read separately. 

This book is a modern day Sleeping Beauty as Shannon wakes up from a coma she has been in for ten years. Now when I read about this happening I really started to think about what that would actually be like! Can you imagine waking up ten years later and knowing nothing about the past ten years?!

Of course the story is predictable and I wish the "villain" was in more of the story but I think Sandra did a great job incorporating the story line into modern day terms. 

I really loved the characters and the overall storyline.

 I wish the ending was stronger but this was still a fun read. I rate five stars!

A Marriage Carol Book Review

On Christmas Eve twenty years earlier, Marlee and Jacob were married in a snowstorm.   This Christmas Eve, they are ready to quit, divorce is imminent. Their relationship is as icy as the road they're traveling and as blocked with troubles as the piling snow. They take a shortcut to get to the lawyer's office, on a slippery, no-fault path. She thinks they need to stay on the main road. He disagrees. They fight. Story of their lives and they slam into a bank of snow , spinning, drifting, falling, out of control. Just like their lives. Reluctantly, freezing cold, hungry, scared, she trudges up the hill. Jacob is nowhere to be found. Her ears frozen, fingers and hands red, she comes to a house on the hillside, built like a Bed and Breakfast, a green wreath on the red door and the door-knocker is in the shape of a wedding ring.

I am a fan of Gary Chapman and hadn't heard of Chris Fabry until this book. The cover is inviting and the back of the cover made me want to read this book. I was surprised at how the story played out and how short of a story it is. I loved how the authors explained the marriage and it's complications, it was very easy to relate with. The setting made it a fun book with the snow and created a Christmas Carol by Dickens in marriage form. 

Not just a book for the holidays, this book has great meaning and is a good short read. 

I highly recommend for married folks!
