Unbridled Trust Review

About the Book

Betrayal was the last thing they wanted . . . and the one thing they needed.

Ostracized by high-profile people in her hometown and presuming she’ll never regain lost trust, Kennedy Kerner writes off her lifelong dream of turning her family’s Colorado horse ranch into an outreach for hurting children. Until the day a young girl in need lands in Kennedy’s pasture, along with the girl’s handsome uncle.

Independent computer networker Garrett Dagwood, a.k.a. Dag, is content with his loner lifestyle, distancing himself from his family and the disappointment of failing to carry on a military legacy. When his mom dies suddenly, he’s unable to ignore a request to have his niece, Lucy, live with him temporarily. It doesn’t take long, though, for Dag to rethink his decision and ability to handle Lucy’s unique needs.

Unwilling to fail, Dag enlists the help of Kennedy and her herd of rescued horses. As the two work together to support Lucy, Dag dares to trust in someone other than himself, and Kennedy learns to trust her heart again. But will an unthinkable turn of events trigger their past wounds, destroying a future they’ve just begun to hope for? (Goodreads)

My Thoughts

Oh my goodness. This book! Once I started reading I simply couldn't put it down! I was over the moon excited that this story is set in Buena Vista, Colorado because I have so many fond memories from living there. The characters are so well developed and I was surprised a few times at the twists and turns the make up this beautiful story. Kennedy and Dag are two very broken people but that is what makes this book so great. I love how neither of them has it all together and how much they both grow as you flip the pages. This story has real life perspective and hardship and doesn't hesitate in digging into the hard messy things that fill up our world. I was encouraged while reading because it is written in such a way that shows how God is truly the One in control. He has such great plans far above what we can comprehend and sometimes we get stuck and caught up in our own minds that we can't see that. I laughed and I got pretty teary eyed a few times. This story is an excellent debut novel and I can't wait to read more from this author. If you enjoy contemporary romance this book is for you!

Five Stars!

Do You Like To Travel?

One of the many things I have been thinking about is where in the world to travel this year. We both really enjoy it and we save up each year so that we can take a trip.  Some years it depends on life circumstances of course but this year I think we will try to do a longer trip and then visit some areas near us throughout the year.
I have put together a list of places within reasonable driving distance that we might try to see in 2020. I also love recommendations of fun places to go so add your input!

·         Royal Gorge in Colorado-I would like to ride the train!

·         Chile & Frijoles Festival Pueblo, Colorado-I have always wanted to go and I think it might work out this year.
·         Georgetown, Colorado– This is such a cute little town bursting with fun shops, food, and history. The drive over Guanella Pass is also well worth the journey.
·         Little Jerusalem Badlands State Park in Kansas-This is a new state park and while you might think Kansas isn’t exciting, think again! There are some treasures hidden in the prairie.
·         Monument Rocks National Natural Landmark in Kansas-I bet you have seen pictures from here but didn’t realize it was located in Kansas.
·         Pioneer Village in Minden, Nebraska-This place covers 20 acres! That is a lot of history and artifacts. We love history and have always wanted to visit but have yet to make it there. This could be the year.
·         Leadville, Colorado-The Leadville Colorado & Southern Railroad train ride! We have been meaning to go here for a couple of years but it has yet to happen. I have family who has been on the train and they really enjoyed it.
·         La Veta Pass area in Colorado-This I am sure won’t happen this year but GUYS this area is so unexpectedly pretty, especially in autumn. There was a fire that took out a lot of the forest but we visited after and it is still a beautiful area. Also, the northern New Mexico/southern Colorado border has some beautiful mountain areas that are well worth checking out.
 ·         The North Pole near Cascade, Colorado-I love this place so much. My husband thinks I am crazy but if you are in the area this is a fun place to spend a day. I personally don’t think you need to have kids to visit but I am sure if you do they will love it!

Some of things aren't going to happen for us this year but I thought I would share places that have been on my mind.

Are you going anywhere this year? Are you doing a “staycation”?

Moved and On To The Next Adventure

I haven't been posting much lately as we have been super busy. I had my last day of work on Monday and was able to pack up and get ready to move to our new place. Then Chance's grandma passed away and that took us by surprise. She was a good lady and we had her funeral a couple of days ago. She will be missed. Now I am officially moved and with my hubby (he moved before I did, I worked a few more weeks). Tonight we leave to go to Asheville, North Carolina to visit the Biltmore as it is all decorated for Christmas. We have been there once before and it was one of our favorite places so it should be fun. We will only be there a couple of days then head back home. Pictures to come of our trip, new place and a couple new additions to the family.

Check out this link it talks about how the Biltmore grows it's own poinsettias!!

Change Is In The Air..

I struggle with change. I love short new adventures, traveling, and doing something new for one day. Moving and starting a completely different life in ranching is slightly terrifying for me. It's new, I can't plan every little thing anymore, and beginning something new is always out of my comfort zone. I know that God has a plan and reading Ecclesiastes 3 is a huge comfort to me!
Living in Kansas our lives have been fairly simple, essentially the same thing every day. We are both excited because that is soon to change. Our days will have unexpected events and more work involved. We feel as though we finally have a goal to reach together. Those who have read my previous blog post about us moving have asked me more detailed questions, such as, when are you actually moving?
I am staying in Kansas until the end of November as our house is on the market and I have a few things I need to do before I leave. Chance is leaving November 15th to start his new job working for this ranch. After that I am completely unsure about most everything else. I don't have a job lined out for me yet, though it is obviously on my mind. I plan on figuring that out once we are moved.
Something I have looked at is lift ticket prices at the many different ski areas. : ) It's been so long since I swished down a mountain and even if I can afford to only go once this year it will be worth it.
So needless to say that is pretty much all I know! I will tell you guys that the place we are living is the most beautiful place on earth and many pictures are to follow. I'll be posting updates on here since I am able to let everyone know what is going in one place.

Thanks for stopping by!

My Dear Colorado Home

This was just a fun shot while we went to check on the horses.
 Elk that we surprised.
How can I not miss a place like this?

The water had a thin layer of ice on top.
 Moose!
Moose again!!

Wow this place is beautiful and I got to grow up in such a place. I never used to appreciate it as much as I do now.
