*Note I previously reviewed but the film is now available on Angel! So this is a new giveaway and encouragement to join Angel!

About the Film

He Calls Me Daughter is a deeply personal and emotionally powerful film that explores what it means to carry a father wound and what it takes to heal from it. Through raw storytelling and spiritual insight, the film reveals how unmet needs from an earthly father can shape identity, relationships, and self-worth. But it also offers a path forward. One rooted in the love of a Heavenly Father who restores, redeems, and redefines what it means to be a daughter. This is not just a story about pain. It is a story about healing, forgiveness, and identity.

Watch He Calls Me Daughter now on Angel and experience a story of healing, identity, and restoration.

Join Angel Guild!

Angel provides a home for stories that go beyond entertainment and into transformation. He Calls Me Daughter is the kind of film that resonates deeply but is often overlooked by traditional platforms. Angel ensures stories like this are seen, shared, and experienced by the people who need them most.

My Thoughts

This is a film that intrigued me and I very much enjoyed watching. It is a well put together documentary type film of different people discussing their father wounds. I loved hearing different perspectives and experiences that different women have had and also encouragement from Alex Kendrick on what a father is to do. There is a wonderfully strong statement that God is the only Father who can love us how we need to be loved unconditionally. I think it is a well known fact that not having a father figure or having a terrible father figure has a lasting impact on a daughter. It is difficult to understand that we have a Father who loves us when in that situation. I thought the interviews were well put together and overall I found this film to be encouraging and it will create much needed conversation.

My Thoughts

I went into this movie expecting humor and Christmas cozy vibes. I was also excited to watch this because it was filmed in Breckenridge, CO and that is very close to where I grew up. The setting and snow is perfect. There are a few things that don't add up but that is typical in these types of movies. There are some really fun Christmas decorating scenes that I enjoyed and a couple of really funny parts that I did laugh at. The main gist of this film is the group is expecting a perfect holiday, especially Michelle. There are a few things that throw a wrench in their plans. Michelle's character really made this movie annoying to watch at times. By the end, I knew the point they were getting at, but it still made this movie land as just okay for me. There are mentions of a relationship with God and different conversations about the Bible and what holy means. There is a very subtle faith message that is mainly Jesus loves you and has a plan for your life. God does love us and His plans are much greater than our own but we still have to want to glorify Him in all that we do. So overall this movie does have humor and cozy vibes! It isn't my favorite holiday film but it did make me want to decorate my house for Christmas so I consider that a win.

I am not much into golf and I haven't ever actually played BUT this movie still grabbed my attention. I love stories and this film does a great job at portraying the lives of these young men and boys. I was invested from the start and about half way in there is a curve ball thrown that I wasn't expecting. There are a lot of hard things dealt with but in a tactful way. The ending even has a twist you won't expect! I really love how Ethan's character makes this movie what it is. Overall, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie and I recommend if you are looking for something that has a lot of heart mixed in with the drama.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: Review & Giveaway!

About the Movie

The Herdman kids are absolutely the worst. They lie, they steal, they bully…and they’ve hijacked the town Christmas pageant. Directed by Dallas Jenkins (“The Chosen”) and based on the international bestseller by Barbara Robinson, THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER follows six siblings who sneak into church searching for snacks and walk away with the lead roles in the town pageant. Grace (Judy Greer) is directing the performance for the very first time; she and her daughter Beth (Molly Belle Wright) and husband Bob (Pete Holmes) are less than amused. But the play’s mischievous stars might unwittingly teach a community the true meaning of Christmas. Featuring Lauren Graham. Screenplay by Ryan Swanson and Platte F. Clark & Darin McDaniel.

My Thoughts

I really enjoyed this movie. I haven't read the book in many years so I hadn't remembered much of the storyline. All of the child actors were excellent and as the story unfolded on screen I was more and more surprised. The details and the script are so good! There is a lot of humor but there is also a lot of heart. So much of this film is real to life. Poverty and judgement and not talking about certain things but then realizing it is in the Bible. Do we really know the Christmas story? Do we really read our Bibles? Do we treat others as we should? This movie will make a great conversation starter on so many topics with your family. There are many instances of the kids taking the Lord's name in vain. It is brought up multiple times as not being okay. So if you are watching with kiddos know that they will hear that and also see the kids acting out terribly at the start. I don't think younger kids would enjoy watching this (they might get bored) but for kids a little older I think this would be a good Christmas movie to see together.

Enjoyed!

Average Joe Movie Review and Gift Card Giveaway

About the Movie

High school football coach Joe Kennedy had no other choice but to fight. A childhood in foster care followed by 20 years in the Marine Corps was nothing compared to his biggest battle: his commitment to stand for God publicly by taking a knee in prayer after each game. When he was fired, Joe and his wife Denise knew this battle for religious freedom, freedom of speech, and the rights of all Americans was one they would have to fight—no matter the cost. From the director and producers of God’s Not Dead and the producers of The Blind comes AVERAGE JOE, in theaters beginning October 11.

My Thoughts

Having only watched the preview for this movie I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. I was thinking a typical football movie with touching scenes and someone showing viewers what it means to stand up for what you believe in. Well there are a couple of touching scenes and Joe does strongly stand for his freedom but this movie was a lot different than I was expecting. There is a lot of violence I wasn't prepared for and because of that I don't recommend watching with younger children. The start of the film is Joe's childhood and it was really rough. He was adopted into a large family that didn't want him and who sent him off a couple of different times. The same goes for Joe's wife and her back story. There is a lot of abuse in both of their lives so be warned this is not a happy or easy movie to watch.

Then there is a big chunk of the film set when Joe was in the military. Then to wrap up the movie we get to football and the difficulties of Joe being told he can't pray on the field. So about half of this movie is back story. The other interesting part of this film is that it is being narrated by Joe and his wife. So there are lots of scenes where they flip back and forth in showing the story and then telling the viewers what comes next. I thought this was a unique choice and I don't know that it was necessary.

There are a few cuss words sprinkled throughout the film. Once again just use caution if watching as a family or with children.

The main thing that I did like about this movie is it really showed Joe and his wife fighting for their marriage and that they really did struggle and didn't always agree. I thought this was well done and added a lot to the film. There is a scene where Joe is explaining his reasons for standing firm on being allowed to pray on the football field. It didn't necessarily come down to his belief in the Lord but to the freedom of praying in public. I think the Christian message is very gray and not well portrayed at all. BUT I do think that Joe did a good thing in standing his ground. Because of him it changes how people can now do these things and not get punished. At least by the Supreme Court. There is an interesting statement at the end of the movie that every viewer should watch that explains this in more detail.

White Bird Movie Review and Gift Card Giveaway

About the Movie

From the world of Wonder, which sparked a movement to "choose kind," comes the inspirational next chapter: WHITE BIRD. Struggling to fit in at his new school after being expelled for his treatment of Auggie Pullman, Julian (Bryce Gheisar) is visited by his grandmother (Helen Mirren) and is transformed by the compassionate and heroic story of her attempts to escape Nazi-occupied France during WWII. From the director of Finding Neverland, WHITE BIRD reminds us to be brave and choose kind.

 My Thoughts

I really love period films. There are so many stories to be told based on past events so I was really excited to watch White Bird. This is a really great movie and be prepared for lots of tears. It is awful how humans treated/treat other humans, especially during WWII. My goodness this is a hard thing to watch and I recommend not watching this with young children. Unlike the movie poster portrays, this is a gruesome film in parts and it doesn't shy away from the horrific things that went on at the time. You see people get shot, a young man attacked by an animal, people mocked and hurt for being Jewish, and how evil the Nazi soldiers were overall. While the film makers showed the hard things it is also important to understand so these horrors don't repeat themselves.

The main thread of the story follows a young girl and boy and their sweet friendship and imagination that is created from a world of utter darkness. I love how this film showed continual hope amid the fear and uncertainty of daily living. The light shines in the darkness.

Helen Mirren is one of a kind and her scenes add so much as you can imagine. I love how the story line is set up with Sara (Mirren) telling her grandson her story and how it ties in with his current life. It makes this film relatable to us today and also proves how important it is to know our history.

Overall this is a great film that needs shown to the next generation and to those who think these things never happened or that it doesn't matter anymore. It did happen and it does matter.

My Thoughts

I have watched the other God's Not Dead movies and enjoyed them. This one is all about politics and for some that might make you think "oh no I don't want to watch a movie about such things". BUT I encourage you to see it! It went a different direction I wasn't expecting and I thought the acting good and the final and main point was made clear. It held my interest the entire time and I am not someone who is really into anything political aside from reading, listening, and voting. Regardless of opinion I would watch this movie with an open mind. It doesn't claim to portray a specific political person and it is mainly making a statement that your vote matters. Apparently 40 million Christians don't vote and 15 million aren't even registered to vote. That is astonishing to me. I know people who don't vote because they don't think it matters (the film even has a scene portraying this) but reality is that if so many people "don't think it matters" it turns into millions of people not voting! THAT does have an impact!

I enjoyed the movie and I found it worth the watch!

My Thoughts

I have been eagerly anticipating this movie ever since I heard it was being created. I have been a longtime fan of Rebecca St. James and For King + Country and I love to see true life stories in film. This movie does not disappoint. It takes you right into the hard season of life for the Smallbone family. It is relatable and so well acted and portrayed. There are so many scenes that I just loved and a few that really will touch your heart. The thing I think I loved the most about this movie is that there are so many layers. You have Helen who is the mom and she truly is a hero. You then see David's growth over the course of the film and how he deals with his pride and how he humbles himself. The forgiveness with family and the example it shows is so beautiful and evident of how it can be life changing! The family as a whole really stepped up together and it is fun to see how Rebecca's music journey started. Even if you aren't a fan or haven't heard of them, this is a GREAT movie and I highly recommend!

Oh my goodness this movie is a heart wrenching tear jerker. I have not read this book though I have read many books by Kingsbury. This is such a well acted and beautifully shot film. Karen Kingsbury has such a way with words and it is evident in the script of this movie. There are certain lines that are heartfelt and real and that comes from a great story teller. This story doesn't shy away from the hard and honestly controversial topics in our society especially in regards to IVF. My only negative is that some parts of the film seem a tad slow in getting to the next scene or moving the story along at times.

I also think that this is just an example of a possible outcome of a life of adoption via IVF. As with any type of adoption it isn't necessarily all happy and joy and found family when a person does discover their biological family. We want to think so and it is possible but often times that isn't the case. BUT these things can happen and God is working in so many ways we can't comprehend His plan. This film is a great example of that!

Regardless this is a great movie that holds a lot of emotion. There is joy and there is some romance but mostly it's about dealing with the hard in life and Who to look to at all times.

I recommend!

*this film does deal with grief, death, infertility, IVF, and adoption.

Learn More HERE

My Thoughts

I love movies that are based on true stories and I was excited to see the story of Cabrini. I had never heard of her and knew nothing about the history surrounding this film. Set in 1889 New York the viewer gets a front row seat to the sad and unheard of living conditions that the immigrants, specifically the Italians, survived on a daily basis. How other people treat another people group is appalling and during this time you could do what you wanted and pretty much get away with it or even be encouraged to do so.

In steps a very strong willed woman who wants to help the young children who are surrounded by the violence and who are in poor living conditions in New York City. The film doesn't back away from showing the hard things. There are prostitutes, gore from a hospital scene, murder while trying to protect oneself, and overall violence of hate for a specific people group. This isn't a movie I would watch with young children. It is rate PG-13 for a reason. Also, this movie is very long as it covers so many details from Cabrini's life and what she accomplishes. It is a slow moving film that is also spoken mostly in Italian. You have to be able to read the subtitles or you won't understand much that is happening. Going into this movie I wish I had known that or been better prepared because you really have to read what is being said and pay attention.

All that to say I have a deeper interest in the life of Cabrini and what she did is incredible. She knew her life mission and she did it no matter what. She was a servant to others and it is evident in this film what she accomplished. This is a tough movie to watch due to the content so I am not sure I would want to watch it twice. Films like this tend to stick with the viewer for a long time. If you are interested in history and true stories you might enjoy this film!

My Thoughts

This is a great movie! Hilary Swank is a great actress and she does an incredible job in this film. It is based off a true story and it is pretty remarkable what a person can accomplish. There are more layers to this story than I was anticipating which is a good thing. Sharon is a pretty broken person who struggles with alcohol. The film digs deeper into her story and it was well done. The main story line of course is hard and deals with a little girl who needs a transplant. This movie deal with hard life things in a tactful way that gives the viewer glimpses into such lives. There isn't much of a faith element and I wouldn't say this is a "Christian"movie per se. They attend church and talk about prayer. There is forgiveness and healing but there isn't a great Biblical message. It shows that people can be kind to others but Sharon acted out her kindness from a motive that had nothing to do with being a believer.

The ending is dramatic and well done and also true to what actually happened which is amazing. The acting is superb all the way around. This is a great tear jerker and gives hope that there is some goodness in the world-watch this movie!

My Thoughts

I was so excited to find out that this movie made it to the stage. I loved watching the Prince of Egypt growing up. I love watching stage productions and they filmed this wonderfully. The performers did an excellent job. The music is pretty much the same as what was in the movie though they did add some songs. The scenes are also mostly just like the movie but again some new things were added. I think the people they chose to portray each person was spot on. It is amazing how these people can perform and sing and dance for such a long production. The only thing I didn't love is that they changed the ending a little bit. There is still the parting of the Red Sea but how the brothers part ways was changed drastically. I didn't think that was necessary. Also, how Moses parts the Red Sea is not at all how it was in the movie and I didn't love how the focus was all on Moses' "power" when it was all the Lord. All that to say it is well worth watching.  I would have loved to have seen this in person but the next best thing is watching it on your screen!

My Thoughts

I am a huge Kristoffer Polaha fan and that is why I first took interest in this movie. He is the main actor and truly gets almost all of the screen time. This film is quite a mind bender. I think I could watch it a few more times and still not catch everything that is happening. There are so many details and comments made that it ended up being an intense watch. There isn't any language or scenes that I didn't find appropriate. There is some violence and scenes that include people getting shot but it is filmed without showing all of the gore. I would caution young viewers though due to the violent scenes. My first takeaway from this movie is how our selfishness rules our lives. The Benefactor thrives on selfishness and it is made quite clear how that destroys our lives. It was a really interesting "twist" on the story of Job. It really doesn't follow the Biblical story but it is brought up and quoted.

I enjoyed this movie because it is different and held my attention. It is a movie that makes you think a bit. I would watch it again.

I had no idea what to expect before watching this and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The acting is really great and the setting of Oxford is just beautiful. I loved all of the architecture and the different shots of the buildings in different scenes. I was completely engrossed in the story from the start which I was worried that it could be boring and it certainly is not. There is some mild cussing and a few of the scenes show college partying but nothing graphic in my opinion. There are some references to sleeping around and shock at people being chaste and it actually creates interesting conversation in a couple scenes which I thought was good. One of the main people chooses abstinence and gets push back because of it.

Basically this film tells the story of Caro as she is confronted with different beliefs and her reaction and growth on what faith means. I enjoyed how the love of literature is portrayed and the references to different authors. I think the movie left out some details that the book better explained but it is difficult for movies to fully grasp stories like this. There is a sweet love story and it was well written and acted. The ending had a fun twist and tied up the movie nicely. Overall I really enjoyed this movie and would watch it again.

My Thoughts

This movie is about what you would expect after watching the preview. It is silly and musical and has a major plot twist at the end that deviates from Scripture completely. I decided to watch this movie because I love musicals and I was excited to see how they did all of the songs. If you are looking for Biblical accuracy this isn't the movie for you. The creators certainly got creative on a few things, especially the last twenty minutes of the film. The general main story is carried through but there is a lot added that truthfully I didn't think was necessary. It is clear they wanted an extra dramatic element and there will be varying opinions on this film because of that. There is a lot of humorous dialog and I laughed a few times because it shows our modern view on things and how ridiculous it is such as frankincense essential oil. The singing and performances are top notch and the cast really did a good job. I don't love this movie because of how it ended (which should be the best part...) but I did enjoy the musical aspect. If I had young children watch this with me, I would be very clear with them that this is not the real history of what happened. It certainly held my attention and I enjoyed a good bit of the film.

The Blind Movie Review and Giveaway

Long before Phil Robertson was a reality TV star, he fell in love, started a

My Thoughts

I will be honest and say I really didn't know anything about Phil and Kay Robertson. I knew a little bit about Duck Dynasty but that is about it. I was really surprised at this film. It is very well made. The acting is incredibly well done and the story of how God can redeem us when we turn our lives to Him is incredible. The movie starts when Phil is a small child and the viewer watches him grow up and fall in love. Then you watch as his life completely falls apart due to his own choices. This film is rated PG-13 and for good reason. There are a few cuss words, though not many, and the movie does not sugar coat Phil's spiral out of control. Some of the scenes are hard to watch but it is done in such a way that the viewer could understand the depth of despair and pain. Even more so as an example that Christ can change lives in a radical way and take you out of the darkness. There is redemption in the end and it is truly so well done! I would caution that young children probably shouldn't watch this but I highly recommend that you see this movie!

 FIVE STARS!

The Hill--Movie Review and Giveaway!

 About the Movie

Growing up impoverished in small-town Texas, young Rickey Hill shows an

ages Rickey from playing baseball to protect him from injury, and to have him follow
in his footsteps and become a preacher. As a young man, Rickey (COLIN FORD) be-
comes a baseball phenomenon. His desire to participate in a try-out for a legendary
major league scout divides the family and threatens Rickey’s dream of playing pro-
fessional baseball. Based on a true story, THE HILL is directed by Jeff Celentano and
also stars JOELLE CARTER, country music singer and songwriter RANDY HOUSER,

My Thoughts

I enjoy films that are based on true stories so I was pretty excited to watch this! I knew nothing of Rickey Hill so the entire story was a surprise to me. The start of the film is when he is a young boy and living in a small Texas town. I really loved his siblings and there are some side characters that were very real to life that I enjoyed. As the movie progresses it does an excellent job at character development and showing character growth. I will say that it was pretty slow moving and I feel like they could have told the story in a much shorter time frame. Some of the scenes I thought were a bit extra and not necessary but it is still a good movie. There is some light language and a scene that indicates physical abuse and drunkenness but nothing graphic. James Hill, Rickey's dad, is a pretty hard character to fully understand but the ending really brings it all together. I do think this is a decent film and it was worth watching because it is based on a true story.

 My Thoughts

I knew this movie would be moving and eye opening. I wasn't expecting tears within the first few moments of the film. This is one heck of a movie and I felt sick to my stomach the entire time. The fact that this is based on a true story is astonishing! It is rated PG-13 due to the obvious nature of rescuing children from trafficking. They did an incredible job at giving you an idea on the reality of what happens without showing too many details. It is a two hour film and you will be shown bits and pieces of the darkness that is in this world. I won't soon forget it and the fact that it represents a growing evil and so so many victims. There is some language but very little. This movie needs to be seen and people need to watch it as hard as it is to watch. We pretend that trafficking doesn't exist due to fear and ignorance. It is the fastest growing crime network. As Tim says in the movie, "God's children are not for sale."

Be sure and go see this in theaters and stick around until the very end to hear what Jim Caviezel has to say.
