My Thoughts

I LOVE this Explorer Bible Dictionary for Kids! It is truly unique and I could spend hours pouring over it. It might be for kids but it is pretty great for adults too! There are so many charts that are wildly helpful, such as the Judges of Israel. It organizes so many details of the Bible so that you can easily look things up while studying. There is a wonderful picture of the city of Jerusalem that shows you where certain things are located. I am a visual person so being able to see these charts and images are SO helpful in my understanding and also for kiddos! I hope to use this book when teaching Sunday School as well to help them understand certain details. If you have children or teach children in any way, I highly recommend this resource!

My Thoughts

I had never heard of a spiral bound Bible until I discovered this one! It is a bit larger than I had anticipated-it is a very large notebook size. So for me personally, this is not one that I would really want to carry around often. It is perfect for opening on a desk and digging deep into study. Because of the notetaking space you don't need another notepad (unless you REALLY need lots of space). I love the paper, it isn't too thin and it isn't slick so it is perfect for writing on. The font is a good size and the charts and maps are helpful and a great addition. Each book of the Bible has an overview at the start, which I always find helpful. I think with it being spiral bound it has pros and cons. It lays flat and allows you ease in writing. On the flip side, I think it would tear pretty easily if you carried it around many places (without closing it properly) or folded it open in half. Overall I really like this Bible and have been using it at my kitchen table. If you are needing a unique way to take notes and it all be in one place this could be the Bible for you!

Five Stars.

He Calls Me Daughter-Now on Angel + Giveaway!

*Note I previously reviewed but the film is now available on Angel! So this is a new giveaway and encouragement to join Angel!

About the Film

He Calls Me Daughter is a deeply personal and emotionally powerful film that explores what it means to carry a father wound and what it takes to heal from it. Through raw storytelling and spiritual insight, the film reveals how unmet needs from an earthly father can shape identity, relationships, and self-worth. But it also offers a path forward. One rooted in the love of a Heavenly Father who restores, redeems, and redefines what it means to be a daughter. This is not just a story about pain. It is a story about healing, forgiveness, and identity.

Watch He Calls Me Daughter now on Angel and experience a story of healing, identity, and restoration.

Join Angel Guild!

Angel provides a home for stories that go beyond entertainment and into transformation. He Calls Me Daughter is the kind of film that resonates deeply but is often overlooked by traditional platforms. Angel ensures stories like this are seen, shared, and experienced by the people who need them most.

My Thoughts

This is a film that intrigued me and I very much enjoyed watching. It is a well put together documentary type film of different people discussing their father wounds. I loved hearing different perspectives and experiences that different women have had and also encouragement from Alex Kendrick on what a father is to do. There is a wonderfully strong statement that God is the only Father who can love us how we need to be loved unconditionally. I think it is a well known fact that not having a father figure or having a terrible father figure has a lasting impact on a daughter. It is difficult to understand that we have a Father who loves us when in that situation. I thought the interviews were well put together and overall I found this film to be encouraging and it will create much needed conversation.

My Thoughts

I love all things Little House and was thrilled to find out this film was being released. I visited the Little House site that is in Mansfield, MO a couple of years ago and it was AMAZING. But with this film you get to peek at all of the Little House sites! I didn't even realize you could visit Almanzo's farm in New York until watching this. I also discovered is it all on the original foundation in New York.  I SO enjoyed watching and learning more and hearing from historians who are keeping the history alive. You get to hear from the fans and of course from some of the actors that were in the Little House TV show. This movie talks about it all: the TV show, the books, the fans, the sites, and how special it all is. If you are a fan of any of the above I highly recommend watching.

My Thoughts

I went into this movie expecting humor and Christmas cozy vibes. I was also excited to watch this because it was filmed in Breckenridge, CO and that is very close to where I grew up. The setting and snow is perfect. There are a few things that don't add up but that is typical in these types of movies. There are some really fun Christmas decorating scenes that I enjoyed and a couple of really funny parts that I did laugh at. The main gist of this film is the group is expecting a perfect holiday, especially Michelle. There are a few things that throw a wrench in their plans. Michelle's character really made this movie annoying to watch at times. By the end, I knew the point they were getting at, but it still made this movie land as just okay for me. There are mentions of a relationship with God and different conversations about the Bible and what holy means. There is a very subtle faith message that is mainly Jesus loves you and has a plan for your life. God does love us and His plans are much greater than our own but we still have to want to glorify Him in all that we do. So overall this movie does have humor and cozy vibes! It isn't my favorite holiday film but it did make me want to decorate my house for Christmas so I consider that a win.

My Thoughts

I was pleasantly surprised while watching this Easter special. It is perfect for kids while holding to the truth of the Bible. There are a few things that were left out, such as Pilate offering Barabbas instead. I think it is important for these videos not to take the place of the Bible because they simply can't. But I do think they can show children a good visual of the different aspects and stories that are in the Bible. It will create conversations that would hopefully encourage parents and kids to open their Bibles and study deeper.

Minno has so many shows that I was surprised! I am eager to watch more than just this Easter one. I think it could be well worth the cost to become a member if you are wanting clean content for children.

Overall I recommend checking out this Easter video with your young ones! I found it to be worth the watch!

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: Review & Giveaway!

About the Movie

The Herdman kids are absolutely the worst. They lie, they steal, they bully…and they’ve hijacked the town Christmas pageant. Directed by Dallas Jenkins (“The Chosen”) and based on the international bestseller by Barbara Robinson, THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER follows six siblings who sneak into church searching for snacks and walk away with the lead roles in the town pageant. Grace (Judy Greer) is directing the performance for the very first time; she and her daughter Beth (Molly Belle Wright) and husband Bob (Pete Holmes) are less than amused. But the play’s mischievous stars might unwittingly teach a community the true meaning of Christmas. Featuring Lauren Graham. Screenplay by Ryan Swanson and Platte F. Clark & Darin McDaniel.

My Thoughts

I really enjoyed this movie. I haven't read the book in many years so I hadn't remembered much of the storyline. All of the child actors were excellent and as the story unfolded on screen I was more and more surprised. The details and the script are so good! There is a lot of humor but there is also a lot of heart. So much of this film is real to life. Poverty and judgement and not talking about certain things but then realizing it is in the Bible. Do we really know the Christmas story? Do we really read our Bibles? Do we treat others as we should? This movie will make a great conversation starter on so many topics with your family. There are many instances of the kids taking the Lord's name in vain. It is brought up multiple times as not being okay. So if you are watching with kiddos know that they will hear that and also see the kids acting out terribly at the start. I don't think younger kids would enjoy watching this (they might get bored) but for kids a little older I think this would be a good Christmas movie to see together.

Enjoyed!

White Bird Movie Review and Gift Card Giveaway

About the Movie

From the world of Wonder, which sparked a movement to "choose kind," comes the inspirational next chapter: WHITE BIRD. Struggling to fit in at his new school after being expelled for his treatment of Auggie Pullman, Julian (Bryce Gheisar) is visited by his grandmother (Helen Mirren) and is transformed by the compassionate and heroic story of her attempts to escape Nazi-occupied France during WWII. From the director of Finding Neverland, WHITE BIRD reminds us to be brave and choose kind.

 My Thoughts

I really love period films. There are so many stories to be told based on past events so I was really excited to watch White Bird. This is a really great movie and be prepared for lots of tears. It is awful how humans treated/treat other humans, especially during WWII. My goodness this is a hard thing to watch and I recommend not watching this with young children. Unlike the movie poster portrays, this is a gruesome film in parts and it doesn't shy away from the horrific things that went on at the time. You see people get shot, a young man attacked by an animal, people mocked and hurt for being Jewish, and how evil the Nazi soldiers were overall. While the film makers showed the hard things it is also important to understand so these horrors don't repeat themselves.

The main thread of the story follows a young girl and boy and their sweet friendship and imagination that is created from a world of utter darkness. I love how this film showed continual hope amid the fear and uncertainty of daily living. The light shines in the darkness.

Helen Mirren is one of a kind and her scenes add so much as you can imagine. I love how the story line is set up with Sara (Mirren) telling her grandson her story and how it ties in with his current life. It makes this film relatable to us today and also proves how important it is to know our history.

Overall this is a great film that needs shown to the next generation and to those who think these things never happened or that it doesn't matter anymore. It did happen and it does matter.

My Thoughts

I have watched the other God's Not Dead movies and enjoyed them. This one is all about politics and for some that might make you think "oh no I don't want to watch a movie about such things". BUT I encourage you to see it! It went a different direction I wasn't expecting and I thought the acting good and the final and main point was made clear. It held my interest the entire time and I am not someone who is really into anything political aside from reading, listening, and voting. Regardless of opinion I would watch this movie with an open mind. It doesn't claim to portray a specific political person and it is mainly making a statement that your vote matters. Apparently 40 million Christians don't vote and 15 million aren't even registered to vote. That is astonishing to me. I know people who don't vote because they don't think it matters (the film even has a scene portraying this) but reality is that if so many people "don't think it matters" it turns into millions of people not voting! THAT does have an impact!

I enjoyed the movie and I found it worth the watch!

My Thoughts

I have been eagerly anticipating this movie ever since I heard it was being created. I have been a longtime fan of Rebecca St. James and For King + Country and I love to see true life stories in film. This movie does not disappoint. It takes you right into the hard season of life for the Smallbone family. It is relatable and so well acted and portrayed. There are so many scenes that I just loved and a few that really will touch your heart. The thing I think I loved the most about this movie is that there are so many layers. You have Helen who is the mom and she truly is a hero. You then see David's growth over the course of the film and how he deals with his pride and how he humbles himself. The forgiveness with family and the example it shows is so beautiful and evident of how it can be life changing! The family as a whole really stepped up together and it is fun to see how Rebecca's music journey started. Even if you aren't a fan or haven't heard of them, this is a GREAT movie and I highly recommend!

Cabrini Movie Review & Giveaway

 About the Movie

From Alejandro Monteverde, award-winning director of 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘍𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘰𝘮,
comes the powerful epic of Francesca Cabrini, an Italian immigrant who arrives in
New York City in 1889 and is greeted by disease, crime, and impoverished children.
Cabrini sets off on a daring mission to convince the hostile mayor to secure housing
and healthcare for society's most vulnerable. With broken English and poor health,
Cabrini uses her entrepreneurial mind to build an empire of hope unlike anything
the world had ever seen.

Buy tickets today to see Cabrini in theaters starting March 8th!

Over the course of 34 years Cabrini established an astonishing 67 hospitals, orphan-
ages, and schools. Her energy was fueled by an intense focus on serving Jesus in
whatever he asked of her and her legacy still stands today.

Learn More HERE

My Thoughts

I love movies that are based on true stories and I was excited to see the story of Cabrini. I had never heard of her and knew nothing about the history surrounding this film. Set in 1889 New York the viewer gets a front row seat to the sad and unheard of living conditions that the immigrants, specifically the Italians, survived on a daily basis. How other people treat another people group is appalling and during this time you could do what you wanted and pretty much get away with it or even be encouraged to do so.

In steps a very strong willed woman who wants to help the young children who are surrounded by the violence and who are in poor living conditions in New York City. The film doesn't back away from showing the hard things. There are prostitutes, gore from a hospital scene, murder while trying to protect oneself, and overall violence of hate for a specific people group. This isn't a movie I would watch with young children. It is rate PG-13 for a reason. Also, this movie is very long as it covers so many details from Cabrini's life and what she accomplishes. It is a slow moving film that is also spoken mostly in Italian. You have to be able to read the subtitles or you won't understand much that is happening. Going into this movie I wish I had known that or been better prepared because you really have to read what is being said and pay attention.

All that to say I have a deeper interest in the life of Cabrini and what she did is incredible. She knew her life mission and she did it no matter what. She was a servant to others and it is evident in this film what she accomplished. This is a tough movie to watch due to the content so I am not sure I would want to watch it twice. Films like this tend to stick with the viewer for a long time. If you are interested in history and true stories you might enjoy this film!

My Thoughts

This movie is about what you would expect after watching the preview. It is silly and musical and has a major plot twist at the end that deviates from Scripture completely. I decided to watch this movie because I love musicals and I was excited to see how they did all of the songs. If you are looking for Biblical accuracy this isn't the movie for you. The creators certainly got creative on a few things, especially the last twenty minutes of the film. The general main story is carried through but there is a lot added that truthfully I didn't think was necessary. It is clear they wanted an extra dramatic element and there will be varying opinions on this film because of that. There is a lot of humorous dialog and I laughed a few times because it shows our modern view on things and how ridiculous it is such as frankincense essential oil. The singing and performances are top notch and the cast really did a good job. I don't love this movie because of how it ended (which should be the best part...) but I did enjoy the musical aspect. If I had young children watch this with me, I would be very clear with them that this is not the real history of what happened. It certainly held my attention and I enjoyed a good bit of the film.

The Blind Movie Review and Giveaway

Long before Phil Robertson was a reality TV star, he fell in love, started a
family, and began to spiral out of control. THE BLIND shares never-before-revealed
moments in Phil’s life as he seeks to conquer the shame of his past, ultimately finding redemption in an unlikely place.

Buy tickets today to see The Blind only in theaters starting 9/28!

My Thoughts

I will be honest and say I really didn't know anything about Phil and Kay Robertson. I knew a little bit about Duck Dynasty but that is about it. I was really surprised at this film. It is very well made. The acting is incredibly well done and the story of how God can redeem us when we turn our lives to Him is incredible. The movie starts when Phil is a small child and the viewer watches him grow up and fall in love. Then you watch as his life completely falls apart due to his own choices. This film is rated PG-13 and for good reason. There are a few cuss words, though not many, and the movie does not sugar coat Phil's spiral out of control. Some of the scenes are hard to watch but it is done in such a way that the viewer could understand the depth of despair and pain. Even more so as an example that Christ can change lives in a radical way and take you out of the darkness. There is redemption in the end and it is truly so well done! I would caution that young children probably shouldn't watch this but I highly recommend that you see this movie!

My Thoughts

I enjoy Andrea Bocelli's music so that is the main reason I wanted to watch this movie. The viewer is taken on a literal journey while watching Andrea and his wife travel on horse back across Italy. In between riding scenes there are musical performances that are just terrific! Most of the performances are done outside and it was put together nicely. The scenery is beautiful and I can only imagine how it will look on the big screen in theaters. The other performers also join in on the horse back ride in different sections and there is discussion about many different things. It was all quite interesting as I really didn't know much about Andrea Bocelli aside from incredible musical talent. This is a film I would expect to watch on our local PBS station as it had a similar feel. I really enjoyed the gorgeous scenery and the music. It was well worth watching!

My Thoughts

Oh my goodness this is a fantastic performance! I didn't realize it would be three hours long but I enjoyed every minute! I read the books by Beverly Lewis years ago and they are some of my favorite Amish books. When I saw that this story became a theater production I was excited to see what they would create. Every single performer did an OUTSTANDING job in this musical. The dialogue was witty and clever and fit the story line. It is a pretty heavy story with grief and shame and anger. There is comic relief by having Chonda Pierce as the maid but also the character of Mary added a lot of laughter. I only wish I could have seen this performance in person but getting to watch it as a recording was second best!

I highly recommend and encourage you to watch this movie!
