November Days

The month that seems to start a new season is now past. There where multiple musical nights this month as my man played guitar. We also waited anxiously for some news and were so thankful when it turned out to be good news! I went to an Oils of the Bible class which was fun and I got to smell all the essential oils. We celebrated some birthdays in our family as November seems to be the month of many birthdays. There were some beautiful days of snow that I loved watching out the window. The first snowfalls of the year are always special. Thanksgiving we hosted in our home this year and it was a success. Family came for the day and we managed to eat way too much and send everyone home with leftovers. Our turkey turned out especially good in my opinion!
I sit here on a very chilly day with the wind howling in anticipation of decorating for Christmas. I wait until after Thanksgiving to delve into the Christmas decor and traditions. This next month will fly by and I am hopeful I can enjoy the moments that make this month special.
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I wish you a happy month of December!

June Thoughts

These flowers are so beautiful.

June zipped by. Between work and mowing my grandparents came to visit, Father's Day happened (we had a fun breakfast cookout with my in laws), and I had a Pampered Chef party. All things that made our weekends delightful. We also had lovely cooler weather most of the month and I was not complaining.

June also means yard sales. I found this gem at a sale for $4. A 1919 copy of Little Women. I was giddy.

I was given this BEAUTIFUL book quilt by my husband's aunt. She is so talented and this is something I will treasure. She even put moose on the back, which are my favorite!

I was really terrible about taking pictures in June. I need to get better at capturing our life happenings.

We discovered this amazing Quicksicle Maker with my Pampered Chef party I hosted. WOW does this work fast! We can have frozen popsicles in ten minutes! HIGHLY recommend!

Have a wonderful July!

March Life Update

Oh March, the month of crazy weather. I am sitting here listening to the rain and it is wonderful to hear. I feel like we have turned the corner into a wonderful season. Spring and autumn are my favorites.
Things have been pretty quiet here on the blog. I have been reading a few books, but this month I have been a bit slow in my reading and reviewing. My job has kept me really busy and my brain has just been on overload the past few weeks. Thus less reading more sleeping. :)

My husband and I went to a historical symposium one weekend and learned a ton! We both love history and it was fun to listen to multiple historians talk on different topics.

We seem to have been surrounded by sickness the past couple of months. I really think that Young Living Thieves has been helpful for us and our wellness. We haven't gotten sick!

I have been making plans for our yard a lot this month and started pulling weeds already. Also, check out this adorable gift idea:

I did read this book that I picked up from the library. It was the best book I read this month but I warn you it was a difficult read due to the topic of sexual abuse.  Ginny L. Yttrup is a fantastic author and I highly recommend her books.

So that pretty much wraps up the past month-ish for me. I feel like it has gone quickly. Hopefully my April post will include flowers blooming!

Thanks for stopping by!

CFRR: That Time I Flew To Nashville For a Day....

Scarriet Bennet Center where the event took place.

Mary Connealy and Ruth Logan Herne speaking.

Tamera Alexander speaking.

Dani Pettrey standing next to me! AHH!

Kristi Ann Hunter and Myself. Hehe!

Carrie Turansky and myself. Eek!

I apologize for the poor quality in pictures I just had my phone.

I recently had the great honor of attending the first ever CFRR (Christian Fiction Readers Retreat) in Nashville. The wonderful people who set this up are Bonnie, Annie, and Carrie. They thought it would be fun for authors and readers to have a day together-and it worked! It was an all day event which started with a lovely snacky breakfast and getting checked in (awesome swag bag!!). From there is just got more fun! I met some great people and we played games and I won two books, there were a lot of book giveaways going on. The authors spoke and I loved this because now I feel like I understand why they write and more of a connection when reading their books. A delightful lunch was provided and of course authors and readers sat together, SO fun! I have to say Pepper Basham is hilarious and talking with her made lunch even that much better. (By the way you should read her books!)
Now keep in mind we were allowed to bring books for authors to sign as well as buy new books while we were there. So there I am: I have my purse, my huge bag of books I brought, my swag bag, and another large bag of books bought, all hanging off of me. I am sure I looked silly but I mean what is a girl to do when she is fangirling?! The best part?! I wasn’t the only one. : ) It was such a joy to spend time with fellow book lovers and the whole day felt like I was just hanging out with family. The authors were wonderful and fun to talk with. Many of the authors I didn’t know which was neat because now my to-read pile has grown taller. I love finding new authors.
Also, throughout the day we did praise and worship and let me tell you, there is something awesome and humbling about being in a room of people who not only love books but who love Jesus. It was so special.
So that one time I flew from Colorado to Nashville for one day, it was so worth it! I have some great memories and loads of books to read, does it get better than that?!

Oh! And great news, they are doing this again next year!

Some authors I met, as in actually had conversations with…eek!
Laura Frantz (we took a selfie-on her phone!), Dani Pettrey (she remembered my name and I kinda got a little giddy), Carrie Turansky Gabrielle Meyers, Kristi Ann Hunter, Melanie Dickerson, Kate Breslin, Krista Phillips, Pepper Basham, Sarah Monzon, Mary Connealy, Becky Wade, Jan Drexler, Ruth Logan Herne, and DebbieGiusti. AHH!

On a Personal Note..

I haven't really had many of these types of posts this past year. I would write about my life more but I just haven't felt compelled to do so. Not much changes from the day to day ordinary aside from me reading a new book.
I can't believe it's already December and Christmas is right around the corner. It doesn't really feel like either to me this year so any ideas on how to get into the holiday spirit would be appreciated!
I've decorated our little tree and for the first time this year we hung outside lights as well. I got ahead on my Christmas shopping this year which I am so thankful-I hate the rush when I haven't.
This year I attempted to follow a theme for our personal gifts, something they want, need, wear, and read. I was able to do this fairly simply with my husband and then added some stocking items into the mix.

I've been listening the to newish Piano Guys album...have you heard it?! It's fantastic.

I booked plane tickets to Virginia yesterday! We are taking a trip in March and driving to the many Civil War sites in that area.

I am also super excited to see Celtic Woman next week! I bought the tickets months ago and I know it's going to be great.

Honest Thankful Moms

I've been getting rather irritated about people and the constant complaint about having children. We don't have kids yet, while there is a constant pressure from everyone in society to have them.
Then I log onto Facebook, get a text from a friend, visit a friend, read a blog post, and all I hear is negative. "Oh just you wait until you have kids you won't get anything done." "Oh I haven't sat down to watch a movie because our house is so crazy with kids."
"If I could just get away from the kids!"
"I'm so glad my kids are back in school, they drive me crazy."
I understand being tired and needing a break or needing to vent to a friend.  I'm talking about the constant complaint.
Honestly for a culture that pushes for others to have children they sure don't act like they are a blessing.
I'm sick of children being made out to be mistakes and life enders.
After hearing these complaints on pretty much a constant daily basis, why in the world would I ever want kids?!
For you moms, that while you are tired with the youngsters, you are thankful.
You don't continually grumble.
You don't make those of us feel like we never want kids.
Thank you.
