My Thoughts
This movie is about what you would expect after watching the preview. It is silly and musical and has a major plot twist at the end that deviates from Scripture completely. I decided to watch this movie because I love musicals and I was excited to see how they did all of the songs. If you are looking for Biblical accuracy this isn't the movie for you. The creators certainly got creative on a few things, especially the last twenty minutes of the film. The general main story is carried through but there is a lot added that truthfully I didn't think was necessary. It is clear they wanted an extra dramatic element and there will be varying opinions on this film because of that. There is a lot of humorous dialog and I laughed a few times because it shows our modern view on things and how ridiculous it is such as frankincense essential oil. The singing and performances are top notch and the cast really did a good job. I don't love this movie because of how it ended (which should be the best part...) but I did enjoy the musical aspect. If I had young children watch this with me, I would be very clear with them that this is not the real history of what happened. It certainly held my attention and I enjoyed a good bit of the film.
