New Mexico Trip and Tractor Chance Painted

Newspaper Writing

Tonight at work in the hotel, I realized how much I miss newspaper writing. I get the newspapers every morning to put by peoples' doors in the hotel. After completing that task I noticed my hands. Black smudges from the newspapers covered my fingers. Now I'm sure this sounds silly, but I absolutely love those black smudges. I love the smell of newspapers. Have you ever been in an actual newspaper office? Amazing. I love it.

Most of the time I look back at my high school career and think I wasted most of that time. But then I change it from wasted to I didn't care much about any of what went along with high school. The best things I remember from high school are the days of my senior year. It was the year I wrote for the school newspaper. At the start I didn't even want to be on the newspaper. Figured I couldn't do it, because I hadn't done newspaper stories in a long time. But I was put in that class in any case. Thank God. It ended up being my escape from the rest of my classes. Each month I wrote a column and then wrote whatever story I signed up for and was assigned. Jessie (the editor) was super and let me pick the stories I wanted to write about. My favorite thing to do was interview people. I met some of the weirdest, most awesome people through interviews. One lady was doing an outreach project, I got to cover the Special Olympics(way cool), and I got to take pictures along the way! :) Doesn't get much better then that. I was so proud when I got awards from different colleges for my writing. Though it was just a piece of paper, it felt like my biggest accomplishment. It was something I got excited about. Everyone needs something to get excited about.
I really hope that God has it in my future to write again.

New Furniture

Today Chance and I went and picked up our new furniture! We now have a new bed set, coffee table, sofa, really cool vase, big basket (to put at the end of our bed), and a screen. I also got a tall jewelry holder and a few kitchen items. Needless to say, it's a good thing we got a house to put all of our lovely things.
Wedding plans are also being fine tuned and pictures will be added soon!

Our own house!!!

Chance and I have found a house!!! We have been waiting for the owner to get ahold of us and this week he did! It's a cute old farm house out in the middlemof nowhere, and only a few miles from the farm. It has three rooms upstairs and a huge basement. We will have to do some things to fix it up a bit. Fresh coat of paint, pull up the carpet and use the wood floors, and put a stove, dishwasher, and refrigerator in. The yard is perfect and there is a spot for a garden. Chance is so excited, that is all he has talked about lately. It will be amazing to have a house of our own to call home. Can't wait!! God is good.

Snowstorm in April :)

Snow day today! We got about two inches of snow and wind yesterday. Of course it didn't surprise me that it was snowing in April. I just feel bad for all the people that have planted their gardens. It was a really wet snow though so it's all melted now.

Today I got to witness the most cute thing! Chance wasn't feeling good all day and was just wondering around the house, playing video games, watching movies, and so on. Well eventually he got this great idea to get his many boxes of legos out of the back room. I'm talking huge boxes full! He then wanders into the living room and dumps the boxes on the floor. He then proceeds to sit down in the legos pile and build Lego cars for the next three hours. Don't worry- I got pictures. It was the funniest thing to see this twenty year old engulfed in his legos. You still can't see my living room floor. Gotta love it.
My day was full of laundry, grocery shopping, baking, and watching the new Harry Potter movie. I must say the movie was filmed in awesome locations. It was better watching it in theaters for the first time, but still fun to watch again.

What Are You Waiting For? Book Review

I recently read What are you waiting for? written by Dannah Gresh. It is a newly published book that just came out this year. The book focuses on sex and states on the cover "The one thing no one ever tell you about sex". I am a college student, and was hoping it would be different than the many other Christian and non-Christian books I've read on the subject. It is a touchy topic to discuss and our world is consumed with everything that has to do with sex. As a college student, it is often all I hear talked about in a day. When I started reading it the author seemed to beat around the bush and explain that her book is better then the many other books written on the topic. She also states that if you can not handle what the book is being written about to not read it. This made me curious on what she had to say. I was extremely disappointed. It was nothing new to anything I have ever read. I do like some of the things she said about the lesbian question and she had some good tips on how to handle such feelings. As for the rest of the book, it was a "beat around the bush to make it sound like I'm saying something new". I believe such a book should have deeper thinking and not just skimming the top of what everyone already knows. Gresh does say words like pornography, and masturbation. She is more upfront about things then most people are comfortable with. She portrays sex as a Godly act and something that means far more than just the word sex.
Overall it was a well written opinionated book. I would not recommend it to anyone college age, but perhaps for younger teens who are discovering their sexuality.

Note: I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review. This is my honest opinion on the book.

I love this

Ecclesiates 3:1-8
To everything there is a season,a time for every purpose under heaven

A time to be born,
And a time to die

A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted

A time to kill,
And a time to heal

A time to break down,
And a time to build up

A time to weep,
And a time to laugh

A time to mourn,
And a time to dance

A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones

A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing

A time to gain,
And a time to lose

A time to keep,
And a time to throw away

A time to tear,
And a time to sew

A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak

A time to love,
And a time to hate

A time of war,
And a time of peace

He has made everything beautiful in it's time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

Water for Elephants

I recently read Water for Elephants, which has been made into a movie that comes out this month. I've seen it for years and it's a bestseller but I never had the urge that I had to read it. A friend I work with let me borrow it so that's what I enjoyed last night. I was suprised with the book and it was nothing like what I was expecting. The author Sara Gruen has a different writing style than I am used to. I absolutely love the circus idea. The entire book plot is with a circus. Something new and historical and interesting. The time period is perfect as well. She also portrayed elderly people in a different perspective most people don't see.
On the flip side, some of the things that happen in the story are so out there, it was hard to believe what I had just read. There are a lot of sexual things that happen in the book that I wasn't too thrilled about. It was like reading a romance novel at times and some of the things I just didn't need to know. It was an interesting read, though I wouldn't read it again. More often then not I don't understand why such books are bestsellers. I have read a hundred other books that arent bestsellers but are much better written.

Life Without Limits Review

Life Without Limits by Nick Vujicic is a thought provoking book written by an extraordinary man. Nick Vujicic was born without any limbs and in the book he writes about his story and struggles. I enjoyed reading about how he not only struggled with every day difficulties but also with trusting in God. The book is full of stories from Nicks' life and his clear message that through God, all things are possible. The book encourages self-acceptance and to embrace the unique qualities everyone has. Life Without Limits was another example to me about how awesome God is and how He can use one man to reach millions of people. God always has a purpose and with Vujicic God knew exactly what He was doing. I enjoyed the book, though his stories jumped around a bit and at times it was difficult to follow from one story to the next. This was not any easy book for me to read, and it took more time to read. I would recommend this book to anyone who has ever doubted God or struggled with self-acceptance.

Note: I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review. This is my honest opinion on the book.

Wedding Plans

So Chance and I have set a date for our wedding!! We decided for it to simple and fun. Four months from now I will be Mrs. Marble. The whole idea is rather intimidating and exciting at the same time. I can't wait because I adore the man God has put in my life and I want us to have a life together. A home. Lately that word home has meant so much more to me. We have been looking for a house out by the farm and we found one we both love. The thoughts in my mind go in circles with ideas. I want a garden-a big garden. Kansas gardens a quite a bit different then the one I had up in the mountains. I have been researching the different things I can plant that will grow at this altitude. Such a different life awaits me. Though my life has never been the same for very long, this is definitely a new adventure.
