Every Woman's Battle Book Review

I chose to review Every Woman's Battle by Shannon Ethridge because I had heard a lot about it and I like the author.

I appreciate Shannon's honesty with her books, especially in this one. She doesn't beat around the bush she just gets straight to the point, which I like. This book covers sexual desires that women think about and while most people don't agree that just thinking emotionally about other men is adultery, it really does have an impact on who you are as a person and your relationship. That is probably the biggest thing I got from reading this book, how the mind is extremely powerful.

Shannon talks about how you may not cheat on your husband or boyfriend or whoever physically but you are mentally and emotionally. I really enjoyed her perspective and the different verses she includes to back up what God thinks on these issues. Married or not,  any woman could read this book and walk away with something new to think about.

Kansas Sunset

Before I moved to Kansas I was told that the sunsets here are way better than those in Colorado. Well, in my mind Colorado can do no wrong so I thought this was a stupid thing to say. Now that I have lived here I can say that the sunsets here are amazing. They last forever, much longer than in the mountains. They are more colorful and vibrant.

It's impossible to capture a sunset with a picture, I don't think anyone can honestly capture a sunset without enhancing editing and adding color to a photo.

It's like trying to capture all of God's beauty and it simply can't be done.

The Widow of Saunders Creek Book Review

The Widow of Saunders Creek by Tracy Bateman sounded interesting for me to review because I have read other novels by this author and I assumed this one would be similar. I was definitely wrong BUT in a good way! This book blew me away. I was extremely surprised as I started digging deeper into the story. I have never read a Christian fiction author who is able to handle writing about spirituality, demons, and witchcraft while weaving these things into a strong Christian perspective romance novel. At this point I'm sure you are confused with Christian and witchcraft being in the same sentence, just keep reading!

The story line has a much deeper plot that is set in the Ozarks of Missouri that is known for it's dark witchcraft and so called "widder women". Tracy brings in this inner conflict with a young widow to show how easily the Christian or non Christian can be deceived by Satan. Corrie (the young woman) moves into a house that many believe to be "haunted" but Eli (the young Christian man in book) knows that there is a demon in the house trying to deceive and only in the name of God will it go away.

I can see how this book could be controversial but I loved it. From my personal experiences this book gets straight the the heart of how demons work and how Satan roams the earth waiting to attack.  I am extremely impressed with Tracy Bateman taking on such a topic in her fiction novel.

There are some intense parts to the book so I might not recommend for younger ages but I highly recommend to everyone else!

Named by God Book Review

Named by God is written by Kasey Van Norman, who is a new author to me. I chose this book because I was intrigued by her story. She has an obvious passion for God and people and I was curious to read her thoughts.

I enjoyed this book because she takes her own life situations and is able to see the good in everything that happened in her life. Each chapter she starts with a personal experience or a story and then weaves the scriptures in to show how God works in crazy awesome ways.

Kasey has some great points and many things I could understand and appreciate. She was born and raised a Christian and yet God had so many plans for her life to get her to where she is in ministry today.

Overall it is a very good book that is thought provoking, don't expect to sit down and read it all at once.

Book Giveaway!!!!

Yay! I'm going to do another book giveaway on my blog this month. Since it's April and it's spring (at least in Kansas) I decided that a giveaway was in order.

I will be giving away one copy of The Scent of Cherry Blossoms by Cindy Woodsmall.

In order to participate you must leave a comment about anything that has to do with spring. You can comment that you can't wait until the flowers bloom or that spring is great because you can wear your flip flops again. Say whatever you would like that has to do with spring.

This giveaway will end on Thursday April 12th and I will announce the winner on the 13th! I will be using random.org to pick the winner.

Once I announce the results I will email the person selected to obtain the mailing info so I can send the book to the lucky winner!

I have previously written a review for this book here.

If you are interested in more details of the book you can read the first chapter at this site.

I really enjoy Woodsmall's writing and I think she does amazing job of portraying the Amish life.

This would be a great read for this spring or really any time of the year!

Tulips!

Here are a few more pictures of spring and my handsome husband all dressed up!

We also have some tulips in our backyard! We don't own the place that we are living in so the landlord has planted all of these things and keeps everything looking nice!

I've never had tulips in a yard or really seen very many grown. I didn't even see that many when I lived here a year ago. I love tulips! These ones are so pretty because of the pretty white tops.
