My Thoughts

I am a huge fan of Gabrielle Meyer so I am always excited to read her new stories. I admit that if I had seen this book and just went off the cover, I probably wouldn't have picked up this book. But since Gabrielle wrote it I knew it would be a good one!

While this isn't my favorite by Meyer, I did still enjoy this sweet story. Newly widowed mother Adley is a strong character and my favorite part of this book. I really liked her attitude and I thought her journey between the first and last pages added more depth than most Love Inspired books. This story holds a lot truths on forgiveness and grace.

Four Stars.

Be sure and check out all of Gabrielle Meyers books! You won't be disappointed!

More from Dana

Wooty woo! We’re back in Death Valley again! So excited about this fourth book in the series because Papa Bear and I have actually returned to this amazing place. (Our previous return trip was stalled for a while due to the virus that shall not be named!) People have asked me, “Why do you love Death Valley so much?” I can only respond that you just have to go there to understand. Is it the vastness of the place? The enormous topographical variety? Maybe it’s the profound quietness that permeates the national park and environs. Then again, it might be the panorama of nighttime stars. (Death Valley National Park is a certified International Dark Sky Park due to its limited light pollution.) Could it be the tenacity of people who live there and survive the one hundred twenty plus degree temperatures in the summer? And how about those animals? The Death Valley pupfish is a teeny little endangered fish that lives in precisely one spot on the globe (Death Valley) and only two places within that range, Salt Creek and Cottonball Marsh. Imagine that! So why set a six book series in Death Valley? Because there’s no more hostile and incredible place I can think of. I hope you will enjoy taking a fictional trip with me there too. Enjoy the adventure, reader friends!

My Thoughts

This is another fast paced Dana Mentink novel. The story leaps off the first page and has you invested right away. I enjoyed the twists and turns in this book and the characters are pretty well written. I really liked Tony's character and I enjoyed how Willow didn't realize what she had gotten into at first. There is a lot that is packed into this little book and as always I think Mentink does a great job! Of course I wish her books were a bit longer but for a Love Inspired Suspense this is a good one.

I highly recommend all of Dana Mentink's books!

 My Thoughts

I really loved this book! I typically don't read many Love Inspired books simply because they are so short. But I will always read anything that Gabrielle Meyer writes because it is always great! This story surprised me in so many ways. I actually couldn't put this book down and it was just delightful! I loved all of the characters and especially the little girls. The setting is fun but really the two main characters just worked for me. They had depth and meaning and real conversations and life issues that made this story so much more than a short little love story. There are some really funny moments that made me laugh. There are also some very emotional type moments that make you think. I couldn't believe that Gabrielle Meyer was able to pack so many details into only a few pages. She is such a talented author and I highly recommend all of her books. This story might just be my favorite from Meyer so far!

Highly recommend!

 My Thoughts

I tend to enjoy everything that Gabrielle Meyer writes. While I prefer her historical fiction tales, I still look forward to her new contemporary books. This story is just so wintery and cozy. It is clearly written by someone who has experienced a snowy winter and I just loved the atmosphere of this book.  This is a perfect Christmas read! I enjoyed the unique plot point of a woman meeting her daughter that she gave up for adoption. I always find it interesting because I didn’t meet my birth father until I was much older, so these types of stories capture my interest.

The middle part of the book didn’t hold my attention as much but I still enjoyed the winter antics that the family experiences. I really struggled with reading the scenes that included Liv’s mother. She grated on my nerves, which was the authors point, but it still drove me nuts.

In any case if you are looking for a cozy and short read to get you in the mood for Christmas this is a great choice!

Four Stars.
