About the Book

Marie agrees, with a Whitney has to watch the three Sloan children and cook breakfasts for the Red Door in return. Intent on making a Christmas match for the two, Aretha enlists Whitney's help in her schemes. My Thoughts

My goodness what a fun and cozy read! I absolutely love PEI so when I found out this book had that wonderful setting I was excited! If you haven't read the previous books by this author, specifically The Red Door Inn, I highly recommend you do! It was pure delight to go back to the inn for the holidays and I really enjoyed the new characters. Whitney is very real and probably will remind a lot of readers of themselves. Daniel is a surprising character that I just love! He is so serious and seems rather drab at the start but my goodness keep reading! Aretha is wonderful as always even if she drives you a bit crazy. Is it a bit "Hallmark" and predictable? Of course. Is it worth reading? Yes! There is humor and so much heart in this story. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Five Stars.

Summer in the Spotlight Review

About the Book

A hurricane may have destroyed her livelihood on Prince Edward Island, but she's determined to save her community

Kelsey Ahern has performed at the Victoria Playhouse on Prince Edward Island every summer since she was seven. But when a hurricane destroys the building, it's not just her memories that are in jeopardy. Her future as a teacher and drama coach are too. She teams up with Levi Ross, the facilities director at the high school, to produce a benefit show to raise money to rebuild the theater. He has a reputation for being able to fix anything, and Kelsey is sure there's more to the quiet man than meets the eye.

For his part, Levi has admired Kelsey for years, but he can't seem to find the words to tell her. When a popular weatherman arrives in town to cover the aftermath of the hurricane and takes an interest in Kelsey and her show, Levi realizes that the time has come to speak up--or lose the heart of the woman he longs for.

Join New York Times bestselling author Liz Johnson for a season of rebuilding, restoration, and romance with this final book in the Prince Edward Island Shores series. (Goodreads)

 My Thoughts

Oh how I LOVE PEI. It is such a special place and reading any book with such a beautiful setting is a joy. The author has done a great job with this series. You don't have to read the previous two books to enjoy this one. This story does mention the other characters from the other books so it would tie everything together if you did! Kelsey has a personality that jumps off the page and Levi...does not. He is a very quite person, so much so that I got a bit irritated at his shrugging and facial expressions with zero dialogue. I love Levi but there were times I wanted to "hear" him say SOMETHING. All that to say, I really enjoyed this book and the ending was wrapped up simply. I think book one is still my favorite but this one had a fun theater vibe that I loved.

 Four Stars.

Oh my goodness but 2022 just flew by in a rush. It was a fantastic reading year and there were so many wonderful books is difficult to narrow it down to ten! I have come up with ten that I really loved and they are in no particular order. I typically choose books that have stuck with me well past reading the last page.

A Sparkle of Silver Review

 38502448

 About the Book

Ninety years ago, Millie Sullivan's great-grandmother was a guest at oil tycoon Howard Dawkins' palatial estate on the shore of St. Simons Island, Georgia. Now, Millie plays a 1920s-era guest during tours of the same manor. But when her grandmother suggests that there is a lost diary containing the location of a hidden treasure on the estate, along with the true identity of Millie's great-grandfather, Millie sets out to find the truth of her heritage--and the fortune that might be hers. When security guard Ben Thornton discovers her snooping in the estate's private library, he threatens to have her fired. But her story seems almost too ludicrous to be fiction, and her offer to split the treasure is too tempting to pass up . . .

Get ready for a romantic escapade through dark halls and dusty corners that will have you holding your breath and sighing with delight as two charming characters get caught up in the adventure of uncovering the past and finding their way to an unexpected future. (Goodreads)

My Thoughts

I have enjoyed all of Liz Johnson's books so I have been eager to get my hands on this one! I loved the setting of this story. There is an intertwining mystery and love story along with a dual time period, all of which I love! Millie's character I had a difficult time loving. I liked the side story about her grandmother but Millie just wasn't my favorite character. The romance didn't seem to click with me and I was really more interested in the other time line. I still enjoyed this book but I really feel like it could have been a bit longer or more in depth and mysterious. I still give this book four stars because it was good, and I am curious to see where Liz takes this series.

Four Stars.

Where Two Hearts Meet Review

28637700

 About the Book

In her kitchen at the Red Door Inn, executive chef Caden Holt is calm, collected, and competent. But when her boss asks her to show off their beautiful island to impress a visiting travel writer and save the inn, Caden is forced to face a world much bigger than her kitchen--and a man who makes her wish she was beautiful.
Journalist Adam Jacobs is on a forced sabbatical on Prince Edward Island. He's also on assignment to uncover a story. Instead he's falling in love with the island's red shores and Caden's sweets.
When Caden discovers Adam isn't who she thought he was, she realizes that the article he's writing could do more than ruin the inn's chances for survival--it might also break her heart.
Readers will discover hope for the hurting, joy for the broken, and romance for the lonely at the enchanting Red Door Inn. (Goodreads)

My Thoughts

I am loving this series by Liz Johnson! I have always wanted to visit Prince Edward Island and this book takes you right into the heart of it. I love the inn setting and I really enjoyed Caden's personality. I thought it was fun and also realistic to life. There is some humor that is a great addition and really the characters are what make this story. Great writing I can't wait until the next book!
Five stars.

The Red Door Inn Review

25795314

 About the Book

Marie Carrington is running from a host of bad memories. Broke and desperate, she's hoping to find safety and sanctuary on Prince Edward Island, where she reluctantly agrees to help decorate a renovated bed-and-breakfast before it opens for prime tourist season.

Seth Sloane didn't move three thousand miles to work on his uncle's B&B so he could babysit a woman with a taste for expensive antiques and a bewildering habit of jumping every time he brushes past her. He came to help restore the old Victorian--and to forget about the fiancée who broke his heart.
The only thing Marie and Seth agree on is that getting the Red Door Inn ready to open in just three months will take everything they've got. Can these two wounded souls find hope, healing, and perhaps a bit of romance on this beautiful island?

Step into the Red Door Inn, a lovely home away from home tucked along the north shore of fabled Prince Edward Island. It's a place where the wounded come to heal, the broken find forgiveness, and the lonely find a family. Won't you stay for the season? (Goodreads)

My Thoughts

What a delightful read!! I have wanted to go to Prince Edward Island since I was little and this book captured the beautiful place. The characters are well written and the overall story line kept me flipping pages and enjoying this sweet story. There is a lot more depth in this book than a love story set on PEI. There is forgiveness and love and fear including panic attacks, which is not something I have read much. I think this made the book all the better because of the reality of it all. Marie really clicked with me and the restoration of the B&B made my imagination run wild. I loved it. The good news is this is just the first book in a series!!  I anxiously await the next novel and highly recommend this read!!
Five stars!
