About the Book
Settled in the
Blue Mountains of Pennsylvania, deep within America's new frontier, the
Leininger family celebrates the blessings of a beautiful homestead and
bountiful harvest. That is, until tragedy strikes with the beginning of
the French and Indian War and the devastating raid known as the Penn's
Creek Massacre.
The
lives of this simple, God-fearing family are forever altered when
Barbara and Regina, two young sisters, are carried away by the Delaware tribe.
Driven by their faith in God and the powerful bonds of family, Barbara
and Regina hold firmly to the belief that they are never alone, even in
their darkest hour, and that they will be reunited again.
Rich in historical details, Alone Yet Not Alone is an inspirational, true story of a family caught in the cross fire of the French and Indian War.

My Review
Alone Yet Not Alone by Tracy Leininger Craven
is a surprisingly excellent book! I had no idea what this book was about until I started reading it and flipped to the back cover. To my delight this story is based on a true account from the authors historical family. This in itself makes this story unique. While written more young adult friendly, I could not put this book down. Young girls are captured and taken hostage for years to live with the Indians during the French and Indian War. While I'm sure things could have gone much worse for the young girls their story is still incredible. They survived, though threatened with death multiple times. A family is torn apart for years, and the story leaves you hanging to see if they would ever reunite. There is also the curiosity to see if the girls would marry and live Indian lives and get married happily ever after. This is a smaller short read but is packed with historical truth and an adventurous true story. Do not expect a ton of detail, as I think this is geared more towards children. It is also a fast paced book spanning several years. And to make it even better they made it into a movie! I highly recommend! Five stars!
